The NTA is like a mobile phone hard wired into your boat’s systems so that when an issue arises, the system will send your mobile phone (and two others if you wish) a text message relaying the relevant information.
It keeps an eye on fundamental aspects of your boat such
as bilge level, shore power, battery voltage, engine bay temperature and battery disconnection.
You can also send it a text message to request the current battery voltage and signal strength, and turn on items such as the boat's battery charger or fridge.
The system will naturally inform you periodically that it is working (once a week is normal) and if the battery level becomes critically low or disconnected.
The system additionally has three inputs and one output, or two inputs and two outputs allowing a range of configurations to suit you. For example, the system is on all the time as standard, but you could sacrifice one input and have a switch fitted to your boat to turn on the system when required.
The general inputs are shore power, bilge level and engine bay temperature.
The outputs can be used to turn on the battery charger, the fridge, lights and heaters.
The system is personally set up on installation by the engineer, so all inputs and outputs specifically denote the nature of the incident and the messages you receive will be delivered from the name of your vessel - useful if you are lucky enough to have more than one boat!
